Gatco’s Gas Monkey Garage Gear – SHOT Show 2016

The SHOT Show is good for more than just guns and such. Sometimes I’m surprised at the variety of goods on display there, as I was when I passed the GATCO booth and spotted the easily-recognized logo of Gas Monkey Garage on a variety of small-but-useful products.

I’m not a motorhead, but I watch the TV show Fast & Loud, where Richard Rawlings and his associates buy/build/sell cars and motorcycles for tons of money, mainly based out of his shop, which he christened Gas Monkey Garage. The program is entertaining enough and isn’t just another “watch them build a car” show. Along the way, we’ve seen Richard expand his Gas Monkey brand to restaurants, a music venue, and even tequila.

And now, tools and whatnot.

GATCO (it stands for Great American Tool Company) is about more than just knife sharpeners, and this lineup proves it.

The wrench-handle knives are perhaps the most distinctive GATCO GMG gear. These are not shown to scale in reference to one another. The larger one is 6.9″ open, with a 2.75″ blade & 4.15″ handle. The other is 4.3″ overall and 1.6″ on the blade, 2.7″ handle. Both have liner locks.

They offer a 13-function multitool, 3.7V rechargeable Cree LED light, and bottle opener / key ring (cable).

GATCO also has another LED light that charges in a 12V vehicle socket, plus a skinny Cree-LED light that takes a pair of AAAs for power.

These lights might be the coolest things of all. They are super-bright (my eyeballs saw that in person) and versatile. They have multiple LEDs arranged on a flexible silicone “ribbon.” The black plastic base contains the AAA batteries and switch and has a loop for hanging. Plus it’s magnetic. Bend the ribbon part to aim or distribute the light or to hang it someplace.

I want some of these lights.
