The HMG Sturmgewehr at the 2016 SHOT Show

Hill & Mac Gunworks had prototypes of their HMG Sturmgewehr rifle at the 2016 SHOT Show.

The original MP44/STG 44 Sturmgewehr was a World War II German select-fire rifle in 7.92 Kurz. The weapon is generally considered to be the first successful select-fire rifle firing an intermediate cartridge. The “Sturmgewehr” name loosely translates to “assault rifle” and the originals set the precedent for later developments such as the AK-47 and M16.

The HMG replicas differ from the original in that they are semi-auto only, have been engineered for ease of manufacturing, and are available in several calibers including 7.92 Kurz, 5.56 NATO, .300 Blackout, and 7.62×39. The base rifle has a retail price of $1,799.99.

In the video a HMG rep goes over the features of the HMG Sturmgewehr.
