Bob McNally 07.12.16
KastKing (Eposeidon Inc., Garden City, N.Y.) has made a fast name in the tackle industry in recent years selling well-made products at modest prices direct to consumers via the internet.
This year at the iCAST 2016 tackle show in Orlando, KastKing (www.KastKing.com) introduces a line of fly fishing reels and rods that are sure to be noticed by anglers and industry insiders.
In the new line are a pair of well-made fly reel designs and four sizes of fly rods.
The fly reels are the Katmai and Kobuk, and both are 1-to-1 ratio, direct drive models
The Katmai is large-arbor designed reel for saltwater and features an O-ring sealed drag to prevent water and debris damage, with machined-aluminum reel spool fitting tight to a cold-forged 6061 aluminum allow frame. It has stainless steel corrosion-proof components, a smooth drag, and comes in four sizes (3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10) with retail prices ranging $49.98 to $79.98.
The Kobuk reel also has a machined-aluminum spool, cold forged 6061 aluminum alloy frame, stainless steel components, smooth drag, and large arbor for fast retrieve in 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10 sizes. Kobuk models are available in black or gun metal color with prices ranging $58.98 to $67.98 according to size.
Details on the new KastKing fly rod series are forthcoming.
