Turnbull Restoration Building Limited Edition 1911
Dr. John Woods 07.05.17
If you are into classic, iconic firearms then you have to check into Turnbull Restoration. Most noted for rebuilds and refinishes on classic rifles like Winchester lever actions, Turnbull has a reputation for quality and original restorations that rivals anybody else in the country doing this type of custom firearm work. Owner, Doug Turnbull has been doing this work for three decades now.
Some years ago Turnbull began restoration work on handguns as well, and has been particularly interested in rebuilding dated 1911 Colt pistols. Turnbull also produces a line of new production firearms at the same quality level of the guns he has been repairing and restoring for years.
His latest offering will be a Limited Edition Colt 1911 Government Pistol in .45 ACP. These pistols will recreate the early style finish as when these pistols were originally introduced back in 1912. To make this edition especially unique, Turnbull is releasing these pistols effective July 4, 2017 to commemorate this pistol’s role in American History and firearms history as a whole.
This 1911 Government pistol will feature a high polish charcoal blued slide and frame. The solid steel trigger, slide stop, hammer, and screws in the grips will be nitre blued to add strength. Two magazines will be supplied with the pistol in the old original two-tone finish with the lanyard loops as standard.
These reproduction pistols will be set in as original form as can be. This includes serial numbers and stampings to copy the originals on the left front side of the frame. Unique to these pistols, the left rear of the slides will be marked with the trademark “Turning Bull”. Also included will be a branded leather case.
Additional original features will include the standard 5-inch barrel with a World War I style ejection port. The open sight will be just like the original pistols being a semi-circle notch rear with the low profile half-moon front sight. The pistol grips will be hand checkered with a double diamond cut pattern. Grips will be fashioned from American Black Walnut for an extra special look.
Remember these Turnbull pistols are a very limited edition for the discerning collector. Production will be limited to serial numbers C001-C020 only. A buyer can select any serial number they wish that remains available. Cost? This pistol will sell for $4,995. For more information or to order, check out their website.
