Prepper Tips: Back to School a Time to Stock Up

Few other times of the year strikes so much horror into the hearts of so many school kids, and yet glee into the souls of parents so equally happy to see the little ones gone for the day. The “Back to School” days however, also brings an ideal time to stock up on a whole gamut of commonly used supplies for prepping, survival planning, storage, as well as a host of other prepper activities. It’s time to take full advantage of the school supply sales right now.

By now you should be getting sales flyers in the mail or wrapped up inside the local daily newspaper, if you still get one. I hope you do for the local news and just for the paper supply if nothing else. Newspaper print has a ton of practical uses for a prepper. These flyers are a plethora of goodies needed around the house for everyday use as well as for prepping use.

The typical stores to shop for school supplies are the big box general merchandise outlets like a Walmart, Fred’s, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, and such stores. The big national pharmacy stores will also have large supplies and sales of school supplies and related merchandise. Office supply stores will also stock this stuff, so shop Office Max, Office Depot, Staples, and like stores. Every general store gets into the school supply act.

So, what to buy. Man, the list is virtually endless. Look around the house, in supply drawers, cabinets, linen closets, bathrooms, the home office, craft rooms and make a detail list of supplies you use on a regular basis. Always keep the prepping theme in mind as you stock up on extra needed or projected need items.

Just flip through the flyers you get for additional ideas. As I look through one now as I write this these items go on my list. The usual office supplies like copy paper, pens, pencils, staples, glue sticks, construction paper, bottled paper glue, pencil eraser caps, printer ink, jump drives, batteries, highlighters, colored markers, permanent markers, notebooks, tape, storage boxes, and lock lid storage boxes of all kinds and sizes. Get household items, hygiene and medical items, too.

Many items have dual uses, for instance glue can be used in a pinch to seal up small cuts. So keep an eye out for on-sale supplies that can be repurposed for prepping ends.

This may be the time too, for a new computer and or printer to upgrade including a new laptop or other device. Look at backpacks for an extra or alternative small bug out or vehicle bag. Back to school is a good time to restock on a wide variety of needed supplies.
