Sandy Hook Five Year Anniversary

On December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza reportedly walked into the Sandy Hook Elementary School and opened fire with an AR-15. In the end, 20 children lay dead. The nation faced an event that shook us to our core. As with other tragedies, gun-grabbers wasted no time in calling for more gun control. After many debates, calmer heads prevailed and no gun laws were passed on the Federal level. Various states were not so fortunate. For example, New York passed the SAFE act.
Five years later, anti-gun liberals are still playing on the memory of Sandy Hook. Numerous left-leaning websites are calling for both sides to come together to talk about gun control.
The problem is, gun owners have already given so much, that there is nothing left to give. These gun haters act as if the National Firearms Act of 1934 never happened, nor the Federal Firearms Act of 1968, nor the Brady Bill. Those same websites accuse gun owners and the NRA of refusing to negotiate on “common sense” gun control. However, those same sites refuse to state exactly what “common sense control control” is.
- Are background checks common sense? Those were enacted in the 1990s.
- Is banning assault weapons common sense? Those have been restricted since 1934.
- How about prohibiting felons from owning a gun? They already are.
- Prohibiting people convicted of family violence and/or subject to a restraining order from buying a gun? Already on the books.
Gun owners must refuse to negotiate because we have nothing left to give. For generations we have given up our rights piecemeal, a little here and a little there.
Murder is against the law. Those laws did not stop Adam Lanza from murdering his mother and taking her guns. Nor did any “Gun Free Zone” signs stop him. That is because laws only affect those who are willing to follow them.
Final Thoughts
On a personal note, I am sick to my stomach at the thought of gun-grabbers using the memories of dead children to push an agenda. Is there anything more disgusting than people using children to take away the rights of others?
Left-leaning websites can call gun owners all the names they want, it is not going to help. The answer is no. We will not give away any more of our rights.
