Watch: Rock Island Auction Company Shoots the 950 JDJ (and More)

In this video, RIA shoots a number of big-bore rifles, including a 950 JDJ single shot, 700 Nitro Express, and a 4-bore (or 4 gauge, if you prefer) double rifle.
The shooting begins with a Browning bolt-action 12 gauge slug gun, and Forgotten Weapons’ Ian can be seen and heard in the background. Next up is the 470 Nitro Express in a side-by-side double rifle, followed by a 700 Nitro Express.
The 700 fires a ONE-THOUSAND GRAIN BULLET at 2,000 feet per second! Yikes.
The 4-bore rifle outdoes the 700 in pretty much every way. The caliber is 105! That’s 1.052-inch-diameter bullet which weighs 2,000 grains.
From there, we move on to the 950 JDJ “Fat Mac” single shot bolt action rifle, which although smaller in caliber at .950-inch, fires a heavier 3600-grain bullet at 2200 feet per second. Even with a huge muzzle brake, the recoil is quite significant, though both shooters agreed it wasn’t as bad as the 4-bore.
They finish up by digging up one of the 4-bore bullets. Pretty cool!
