POTD: Double The Barrels, Triple The Triggers – Stevens Model 1877

Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! Here we have a unique triple-trigger shotgun. This is a Stevens Model 1877 double barrel triple trigger shotgun. They have a reputation as being a rarity but tend to be found here and there. The Stevens Model 1877 had Damascus 30-inch barrels and a straight grip stock. Getting down to the elephant in the room, the third trigger is simply to break the action open to load and unload. Beyond that oddity, these shotguns operate the exact same as any other double barrel exterior hammered shotgun. Fun fact: Wyatt Erp is rumored to have handled one or owned one. In fact, it is shown in the movie Tombstone!
