AllOutdoor Review – Vortex Optics Pro Torque Wrench & Pro Leveling Kit

If you have ever mounted your own optics before – and don’t have the proper, necessary tools to accomplish it – then, you will know the pain many of us have all experienced. Is my scope level? Are the screws too loose? Did I just crush the tube on my optic? Mounting a scope isn’t difficult, but its procedural. You want to make sure you do things right. Being a gun shop owner by day and writer by night, my retail experience in mounting optics for the public far exceeds my tenure of writing (16 years versus 10 years). I can confidently say that I’ve seen it all when it comes to poorly made leveling tools and bit drivers (or torque wrenches). So, when I heard that Vortex Optics had some new ones coming out this year, I was ecstatic! A quality scope can serve one firearm, but the tools to mate them together can be used an infinite amount of times and prove to be invaluable. So, in this AllOutdoor Review, we are going to take a look at the new Vortex Optics Pro Torque Wrench and Pro Leveling Kit to see how they perform. Let’s dive in!

What’s in the Box? Vortex Optics Pro Torque Wrench

One of the most common and recurring questions I receive reviewing firearms and their related products is, “what’s in the box?” Meaning, what do you all get with your purchase. This is important because what you do and do not get will dictate what type of accessories you need to additionally buy depending on what you want your end-product or weapon system to look like. All this being said, this is everything that you will receive:

Included in the Box

  • (8) Hex Bits (3/16″, 5/32″, 9/64″, 5mm, 4mm, 3mm, 2.5mm, 2mm)
  • (3) Torx® Bits (Extended T-10, T-15, T-25)
  • (1) 10mm WIDE screwdriver bit
  • (1) 1/2″ Socket
  • (1) 1/4″ Hex to 1/4″ Square Socket Adaptor

The Vortex Optics Pro Leveling Kit is our other tool ins questions today, and it retails at an MSRP of $44.99 at the time of its announcement, but Vortex is running a sale where it is already at a discounted price of $34.99. This level is incredibly handy because you always want your optics to be properly leveled. If they are not, then when you’re making windage and elevation adjustments your provided input isn’t going North/South and East/West; rather, its headed off somewhere into left field. Field Use – Vortex Optics Pro Torque Wrench & Pro Leveling Kit

To put the Vortex Optics Pro Torque Wrench and Pro Leveling Kit to use, I tried them out on a couple different firearms that I have had to review recently. First, I used the Pro Torque Wrench on the newly announced Springfield Armory Kuna 9mm. For the Kuna, I placed a simple yet reliable Crossfire Green Dot (2 MOA).

This entails anchoring down a single Torx cross-bolt for the Crossfire Green Dot. I had the necessary Torx bit to do this in the including bits that come with the Pro Torque Wrench kit.

I then used it to attach a handstop onto the Kuna so my hand wouldn’t reach beyond the muzzle on this compact firearm. The Strike Industries Bikini Hand Stop (MSRP $12.95 – 2 pack) is the personification of minimalism, and ensuring this tiny handstop was secured properly was important. The Pro Torque Wrench made quick, effective work of this task.

Another firearm that got some assistance from the Pro Torque Wrench and Pro Leveling Kit is my Springfield Armory Model 2020 Waypoint in 6.5 Creedmoor. I recently tested an optic on this bolt gun, and it required leveling and mounting the scope.

If I wanted to make any real attempt at validating the quality of a riflescope, I needed to ensure it had a solid foundation. I needed to verify it was mounted correctly. The Pro Leveling Kit could be easily clipped onto a Picatinny rail and is held securely in place. Its an actual metal product so I had not fear of breaking it or it flexing due to environmental factors (heat, cold, etc).

By clipping one bubble level onto the Picatinny Rail and another simply set on top of the elevation cap, I verified that my scope was level. Then, I could follow up with getting all of the screws properly tightened down to 18 Inch-Lbs as Vortex suggests for their ring tops.

Final Thoughts

So, what are my final thoughts on the new Vortex Optics Pro Torque Wrench and Pro Leveling Kit?… The Pro Torque Wrench is exactly what you’d expect: a good quality torque wrench that securely locks in bits, has a nice tactile rubber handle, and comes with an assortment of bits that you’ll likely need in a convenient, protected tube carrying case. The Pro Leveling Kit might be my favorite non-firearm product announcement of 2025. It is insanely cheap for the value that it offers, it solves a tremendous problem for people who mount a lot of scopes, and it is incredibly easy to use. Being a longtime armorer and gunsmith, I know all kinds of hacks and tricks to leveling scopes, but I don’t like having to resort to carnival tricks like a street magician to level scopes. This makes my job infinitely easier. If you doing any amount of scope mounting and routinely play with optics, both of these tools are well worth it.

In closing, I want to say thank you to Vortex Optics for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their new Vortex Optics Pro Torque Wrench and Pro Leveling Kit. That is greatly appreciated. Also, we would like to know what all of you guys and gals think? Do you believe that the Vortex Optics Pro Torque Wrench and Pro Leveling Kit is something worth spending your money on? Would you take them with you to the gun range for fine adjustment? Stow them in a shooting bag while attending a league or competition? Potentially them for home gunsmithing use? As always, let us know all of your thoughts about Vortex Optics and the Pro Torque Wrench and Pro Leveling Kit in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.
