Pop them Tuna with Daiwa Black Wing Spinning Rods

One of the most fun you can have offshore is throwing topwater lures at tunas, fast-paced and visual action that will get any angler’s blood pumping. Daiwa is here to help with the new Black Wing series of saltwater popping rods, designed around being a beefy, lightweight, and fun-to-throw series of tuna popping rods. This new lineup includes five models of spinning that range from 7’9″ to 8’2″ in length and medium to extra-heavy in power, so you can target anything from schoolie yellowfin on up to big bruiser bluefin. These are two-piece popping rods that utilize V-Joint Technology for a very portable rod that doesn’t sacrifice any action or power.

“We’ll see anglers using the Black Wing popping rods for tuna primarily, along with the 7’9” Black Wing BW92MFS and 8’2” BW822MHFS being the right size and power to also target big stripers and yellowtail,” said DAIWA Marketing Manager, Marc Mills. “Plus making these rods two-piece with our exclusive V-Joint technology connecting the blank to the handle, we add more travel convenience without sacrificing performance.”

The Black Wing popping rods use blanks that have DAIWA’s HVF NANOPLUS carbon technology, which reinforces the blank through a micro-level arrangement of material in the resin when the blank is formed. Making the blanks narrower, lighter, but still incredibly rigid and powerful, giving them a ton of fish-fighting power. The Black Wing popping rods also use X-45 Bias Construction for preventing blank twisting and ovalization under load, giving the rod added power, setting the hook on those big blow-ups. All of these new rods come with Fuji SIC double foot guides with Alconite rings to reduce weight and increase casting distance. MSRP for the rods is set at $379.99 and should be available later this year.
