iCAST Review: SpiderWire Stealth Smooth Line for Tough, Quiet Casting

Braided fishing line pretty much rules the upper levels of sportfishing, and no line is more revered in the braided line ranks than SpiderWire, one of the first true “super braids” that revolutionized the tackle industry.

This year SpiderWire is introducing at the Orlando iCAST tackle show an innovative SpiderWire labeled “Stealth Smooth,” which the company touts as being stronger and smoother due to an “eight-carrier” braid woven into a super-tight smooth shape. It’s designed to whip through rod guides for more effortless, longer casts. It’s also reported to sink quickly and “cut” through the water column fast due to thin diameter and a special, durable “microcrystalline polymer” finish.

It’s also designed for easy knot tying, something many other braided lines lack.

It’s available in a wide range of tests from 6- to 80-pound, making it useful for many different types of freshwater and saltwater angling.

Retail price per spool of Stealth Smooth begins at $14.
