Watch: You’ve Been Splitting Firewood the Wrong Way

In this video, CrazyRussianHacker takes some hacks at some wood and demonstrates a pretty good way to split wood with an axe. Even if you don’t have a splitting maul, this method will allow you to split wood. And with a heavy maul, this might work even better.

It sure looks like it will work a lot better than the old way I used to do it, back when I cared enough to split firewood. In those days I was a decade or so younger, and I pretty much just stood the wood on the ground and wailed away, chasing down the chunks that flew away and dealing with the damaged yard at a later date.
