Watch: Flintknapping a Spearhead From a Rock

Have you ever wanted to watch a dude with a weird beard turn a rock into a spear head? Well, today’s your lucky day! That’s exactly what this video illustrates.

He starts with a big hunk of stone and works it into a fine-looking spearhead, flaking off some sizable bits of stone with which he will later make arrowheads.

As with all things primitive, the skills are simple, but this is definitely not something just anyone could do. It takes dedication and a willingness to learn how to read the stone, to know which way it will flake and how best to strike it.

Pretty cool, if you ask me.
