Springfield Armory Hellcat OSP Wins 2020 “Best New Handgun” Award

Every year the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW) announces their awards for best products from the previous year in categories of ammunition, accessories, firearms, and more. This year they teamed up with the Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA) to announce their 2020 “Best New Handgun” Award, and the Springfield Armory Hellcat OSP was chosen as their winner! The Springfield Armory Hellcat OSP has likely been the most popular concealed carry pistol on the market for the last year so this should not come as a surprise to many people for them to receive this award. A full Press Release from Springfield Armory regarding the award from the NASGW-POMA can be read below:

“GENESEO, ILL. (10/23/20) – Springfield Armory® is proud to announce that the Hellcat® OSP™ 9mm has won a NASGW-POMA Caliber Award for 2020 Best New Handgun, as selected by an independent panel of 18 judges from a pool of approximately 150 new products.

Each year, the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW™) awards the top optics, accessory, ammunition and firearms manufacturers who provide outstanding value and service. For this year’s awards, the NASGW partnered with the Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA) to also select the best new products in six categories, including the 2020 Best New Handgun.

To qualify for the Caliber Awards, manufacturers must be a NASGW member in good standing and the product must have launched within the last year. Over the course of several weeks, the 18 judges analyzed the contenders and chose the Hellcat OSP 9mm as the best in its category.

With soaring sales across the board for concealed carry pistols throughout 2020 and the Springfield Armory Hellcat OSP leading the charge, it is almost a better question to ask gun owners who does not have one at this point? Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory, shared his gratitude and appreciation for receiving this award from the NASGW-POMA in these words below:

It’s truly an honor to be selected for this Caliber Award by NASGW-POMA. The Hellcat has been a huge success in the concealed carry and self-defense market, and it’s gratifying to have it be recognized by such an esteemed group of judges.

I, personally, have had a Hellcat since they were debuted a little over a year ago and have been very pleased with the performance of the mighty micro-compact pistol. The real question that remains is what do you think? Do you currently own a Hellcat OSP? Are you in the market for one? Are you surprised by this award? Let us know all of your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.
