POTD: Cased Russian Margolin Olympic Target Pistol

Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! Target pistols are goofy looking, aren’t they? This Russian Margolin Olympic target pistol is pretty stylish though! According to my quick research, Russia took 7th place in the shooting portion of the 1964 Summer Olympics. This Margolin pistol is 22 caliber with a 7-inch barrel.

“Manufactured in 1961 by the Tula State Arsenal, this pistol was manufactured for use by the Russian Shooting Team in the 1964 Olympic Games. The only markings on the pistol are the serial number on the barrel and frame, “1961” on the left rear of the barrel and proofmarks on the sides of the trigger guard. The pistol is equipped with adjustable target sights, an adjustable trigger stop and black checkered plastic grips with right hand thumb rest. Complete in a wooden case with a grip extension, oil container, screwdriver, four barrel weights, muzzle break, cleaning rod and extra magazine.
