POTD: One of The Worst Shotguns Ever Made – Cobray Terminator

Welcome to today’s Photo of the Day! Here we have what is typically agreed to be the worst shotgun ever produced. This is the Cobray Terminator. This very 1980s shotgun looks mean, the name sounds mean, but by every user account, it is only mean to the person wielding it.

The way these shotgun work is very simple. It is technically an “open bolt” style gun but the firing pin is fixed to the receiver at the rear and rather than a bolt slamming forward the whole barrel apparatus slams to the rear. You place a 12ga shotgun shell in the chamber, move the charging handle out of its safety notch, pull the trigger, and when the barrel assembly is released it slams to the rear which sets off the shotgun shell. It also delivers a heavy punch from both the weight of the barrel going to the rear, but also the recoil from the ignited shell. On top of that, the stock is a collapsible wire-style stock with no cushion.
