The Revamped Daiwa Silvercast – Crisp and Modern
Eugene L. 12.26.22
The fishing reel designers at Daiwa have revamped their popular Silvercast spincast reels. Giving these popular classics a crisp modern look along with enhanced overall performance on the water. Even with these changes the reels still maintain their simplicity and ease of use, only needing a single push-button for casting. They are an excellent reel choice for starting-out kids and other beginners fishing. Intermediate anglers can use them to practice and improve casting techniques, and for just any angler who just wants to enjoy a bit of nostalgia by going back to their simple fishing roots. The Silvercast series of reels are well-engineered and affordably priced.
The Silvercast reel series has been updated to feature a lightweight durable aluminum construction with a ball-bearing drive. The oscillating spool provides precise level-winding, with right or left-handed retrieve. The drag on the reels is made using an ultra-smooth multi-disk drag stack, and the reel handles are made of soft-touch rubber for a sure and comfortable grip on all models. To finish the reel off it has a more modern flair to the nose cone and body, a more cosmetically sharp look to it.
The Daiwa Silvercast reels are available in sizes, SC80B, SC100B, and SC120B. All three of the models will come pre-spooled with a premium 8-, 10-, or 12-pound test monofilament line. All the models sport a 4.3:1 retrieve ratio with the line reel per crank being between 21.8- to 25.9-inches per turn, depending on the model size. Incredibly easy and simple to use, reliable, and priced right at $39.99 retail, Daiwa’s revamped Silvercast series of reels offers new anglers or anglers who like the classics an easy and inexpensive way to have fun on the water.
