Century Arms has a new line of Romanian AKs under the name CGR. These are made in Romania and in the city of Cugir, but not in the same factory as the WASR line, but still advertises some impressive specifications for an affordable price. Let’s take a closer look at this new AK.
[SHOT 2023] Century Arms CGR – Romanian AK
The company that manufactures these new rifles is called Nova Modul. Located in the city of Cugir, Romania. Inside this factory, Nova Modul also manufactures various other firearms, including the Century Imported Draco NAK9 9mm and a few others. The Century Arms CGR rifles are currently available in two models. A black Magpul polymer furniture and a wood furniture model. Both models have the same specifications and features, other than furniture.
The CGR rifle is here to answer the demand for more quality imported Romanian AK rifles! Designed and built in a historic facility deep in the heart of Romania, this rifle checks all of the boxes for the US commercial markets current demands. From the forged front trunnion and barrel, to the optics ready picatinny rail, bayonet lug and cleaning rod, and 1mm thick blued finish receiver, this rifle not only looks great but is built to last.

The hinged dust cover is a nice feature and on the display models at the Century Arms booth, they both appear to have nice tight lock up. The picatinny rail on the dust cover is polymer, which was a bit surprising, but a Century Arms representative assured me that they have had no customer feedback issues with the polymer rail.
The Century CGR Rifles are available now at Century Arms distributors and appear to have a street price in the mid $700s to $800s.
