[NRAAM 2023] KNS Precision DISCARDER – Improving the FN SCAR

KNS Precision first popped up on my radar with their adjustable gas piston for AK pattern rifles. Turning a rifle, especially suppressed, from an over gassed disaster that will eventually beat itself too death, into a well tuned enjoyable shooting experience. These parts are one of the rare occasions where you have the chance to not only make your firearm more enjoyable to shoot, but could very well be adding to its reliability without breaking the bank. Now they have turned their attention to another rifle platform that is notoriously over gassed, the FN SCAR. While at NRAAM 2023 I was able to spend some time with the folks at KNS Precision, so they could show me their new DISCARDER, an adjustable gas system that looks to be just as elegant of a solution as their AK piston.

The DISCARDER has no moving internal parts, allowing for a more reliable system, 14 positions to dial in your perfect gas setting, and marked allowing the users to know exactly which setting they are currently on. Excellent for a shooter that wants to tune for different suppressed, unsuppressed, and ammo types. Install is a breeze and should only take you a few minutes, without the need for any specialty tools. Price isn’t too bad either, the DISCARDER will run you $159 from KNS Precision’s product page. Add one of their SCAR takedown pins for an extra $20, part of their SCARter pack.

With the DISCARDER you will receive the device, three additional jet inserts to aid in tuning, and a tool.
