AllOutdoor Preview – ULTRAcomp Bifold Wallet by Blue Force Gear

When you think of Blue Force Gear most people will associate them with their magazine carriers or their excellent slings and plate carriers. I have personally been using their Ten Speed Mag carriers for years as they are a highly adaptable way to carry pretty much anything you can think of. Since 2004, BFG has strived for excellence in all they do with their products. They focus on making lightweight gear with simple designs and advanced fabrics and technologies. One such technology they have brought out to the forefront of the market is their “ULTRAcomp.” Blue Force Gear’s proprietary high-performance laminate – ULTRAcomp – far exceeds the military standard air-textured nylon in tear and abrasion resistance. Its hydrophobic features allow products to stay dry and light, whereas air-textured nylon retains water and gets even heavier when wet. Recently, BFG decided to put this ultra-cool material into their newest product, the ULTRAcomp Bifold Wallet.

The BFG wallet is larger than your average wallet and comes in a 9” x 5.25” x .6” but only 1.5 oz or 43 grams empty. It looks like that will certainly be well suited for those who carry a lot of cards in their wallet as it can hold up to 12 ID/Credit cards and will room still for cash. The Wallet will come in a few color options including Coyote Brown, Black, Wolf Grey, and Multicam. Other than the size of this wallet my only other concern is the price. MSRP is $89.99 so definitely on the more expensive side for a slim-style, non-leather wallet. With that being said it’s still cool to see BFG branching out and coming up with new ideas and incorporating their technology in other applications.
