AO Review: Savior Equipment Realtree American Classic Double Rifle

Savior Equipment continues improving on their already excellent series of double rifle cases, the redesigned American Classic sports new features and in a wider selection of colors and camo patterns. Released earlier this year, the new American Classic was launched in my personal favorite camo, Realtree Edge, and it is one handsome case that offers some clever design elements and a plethora of storage.

Comparing this new American Classic to my previous, it would be easy to overlook the design changes between the two cases until you take a closer look. Better nylon, stronger pockets, more robust zipper, stronger hardware, better foam, and small quality of life improvements like a small d ring to open the pistol pouches all add up to a solid generational improvement over outgoing models.
The American Classic is Savior’s affordable double rifle case. With an MSRP starting at $104.99, don’t think you are losing function and quality with this case over their more premium options. Construction is overbuilt to ensure this case lasts a long time while protecting your firearms. The outer shell is 1000D nylon, with 600D for the interior. Nearly everything is double stitched and every outer pocket is secured with hook and loop and a buckle.

My American Classic is the 46″ Realtree Edge, but they are available in 36″, 42″, 46″, and 55″ carrying an MSRP of $104.99 to $134.99. The American Classic is available in the following color choices as of writing. Realtree Edge, M81 Woodland, Realtree Timber, and Tiger Stripe. Savior Equipment American Classic in Use
With the storage offered in the American Classic, many times I find myself not even needing a range bag. Comfortably securing two rifles, 9+ magazines, ammo boxes, suppressor, staple gun, and ear pro is not an issue for this case. Do keep in mind, unloaded the American Classic is not a light case so once loaded down, it will have some weight. With the strong double stitched straps and solid hardware, I’ve not once felt that the American Classic would fail.
The outside pockets comfortably fit 2-3 standard capacity AR magazines each, I also use them for suppressors, tools, ammo, or skittles. The larger center pocket is typically where I would store my spare ear pro, shooting glasses, and small trauma kit.
The true appeal of this rifle case is of course its ability to carry well… rifles. The foam in this case is of great quality, and not once in the years of using these cases have I had a rifle damaged due to a lack of padding. Hook and loop straps are located in each compartment to secure the front and rear of the rifle, as well as small corner pockets to tuck the muzzle or stock. The rifle compartment is surrounded by a barrier of protective foam from every side.
The center foam offers excellent protection between your rifles and if you choose to use this as a single rifle case, it can be removed.
If you are packing two rifles with weapon mounted lights, lasers, bipods, vertical grips or other front end accessories that make the weapon wider, two can be a tight fit and may require rearranging. In the above pictured configuration of a Springfield Waypoint and a basic AR with no accessories, there were zero fitment issues and was comfortable to pack.
The first internal pocket you will find two pouches that will hold pistols comfortably, a zipper pocket, and plenty of space to carry any other piece of kit you may need for a trip to the woods. The small d rings are used to assist with the hook and loop of the pistol pouches and are a welcome addition that I didn’t even know I needed.
The padded shoulder straps and chest strap make this a joy to hike into the woods. Even when the case is overloaded in weight, it balances nicely while the padded shoulder straps distribute the load without digging into your shoulders. The straps all over the case offer plenty of adjustment to ensure a comfortable and secure fit.
Final Thoughts on the Savior Equipment American Classic
The American Classic continues to be my personal favorite soft case on the market. I’ve owned three of various generations and sizes over the years, and none have given me any issues. This Realtree Edge American Classic has been my primary long rifle case since February and still looks new, further showing the durability of this case. All the pictures in this review were taken after six months of use. If you do find yourself with an issue, Savior has a Lifetime Warranty and a strong focus on customer service.
