Meet Streamlight’s New SL-SideSaddle Compact Hat Light
Luke Cuenco 07.02.25

Headlamps are a great way to navigate at night around the campsite, the house, or when you’re dragging back a fresh kill from the field. Anyway, you slice it, it’s always handy to have one around, and that’s why I was pretty excited to see that Streamlight has just announced the release of their latest headlamp – the SL-SideSaddle. The SL-SideSaddle will come in both a USB-rechargeable and a traditional battery configuration, and each version is said to have a nice, well-rounded 300 lumens of maximum output at 1,900 candellas. Even better, the light comes with everything you need to attach it to just about any helmet, hat, or hard hat.

Meet Streamlight’s New SL-SideSaddle Compact Hat Light
Streamlight®, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting tools, announces the SL-SideSaddle® series, a new hands-free lighting solution built for outdoor adventure and recreational use. Using the hat light mounting system, it seamlessly fits baseball hats and bump caps. It also works in conjunction with athletic climbing or safety helmets using the universal mounting system. The SL-SideSaddle is available in USB rechargeable and alkaline battery-powered versions, and black or yellow color options.
The SL-SideSaddle delivers high-output spot, flood, and spot/flood combined beam options with a programmable rear-facing blue safety light for hiking, camping, climbing, and low-light trail navigation. Its push-button tail switch remembers the last beam mode and easily cycles between brightness settings for customizable control on the go.
With a maximum output of 400 lumens for 5 hours, the SL-SideSaddle USB provides ample light for outdoor tasks. On low spot, the light offers 12 hours of run time and up to 100 lumens. The alkaline version provides up to 300 lumens with a run time of up to 5 hours, on the spot/flood combo setting. The low flood setting provides up to 16 hours of run time at 60 lumens, also depending on the selected mode.
The SL-SideSaddle USB is powered by a 2000 mAh lithium polymer cell with USB-C rechargeability. The alkaline version runs on three AAA alkaline batteries.
The hat light system, for mounting on a baseball hat or bump cap, includes mounting hardware to securely attach the SL-SideSaddle. The universal mounting system provides the necessary strap and mounts that allow the light to be attached to athletic climbing or safety helmets. The USB light is 3 inches long, 1.72 inches wide, and 1.14 inches high, weighing 3.1 ounces. The alkaline model is 3 inches long, 2.25 inches wide, and 1.14 inches tall, with a weight of 3.4 ounces when batteries are included. The USB version has an MSRP of $94.34, while the alkaline version is priced at $62.54, and both come with Streamlight’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.
