Tote Your Climbing Sticks on Your Bike

A while back, I received a PR email with the subject line, “Ladder Sticks for the Traveling Hunter.” Hmmmm.

They’re advertising Stacked Outdoors Ladder Sticks, which I mentioned here last fall. These are molded plastic steps which you secure to a tree in order to form an improvised ladder, for getting up above the game you’re hunting. It’s not a new concept by any means, and many folks like to use climbing sticks.

The claim to fame of these is that they’re compact and they nest together in a stack, so you can lasso 4 of them together in a package that’s smaller than most hunt packs.

From the press release:

The beauty of Stacked Ladder Sticks is the extremely strong, single-piece composite design. Unlike traditional ladder sticks with joints and moving parts, the Stacked Outdoors sticks stack together like red solo cups, creating a single piece that is light and ready for travel.

The major benefit of owning a set of ladder sticks that travel well is the ability to take personal equipment anywhere. When the morning hunt arrives, the sticks will quickly secure to any tree, providing a stable and safe platform for climbing. The possibilities are endless while hunting over the most durable and stable ladder sticks on the market.

Stacked ladder sticks also increase mobility in the field. Sitting on an unproductive stand often calls for a quick change and a new tree. Heavy, clunky ladder sticks make this difficult. The Stacked advantage is instant mobility. Unstrap from the tree, stack them together, and quietly move to a new location for a quick setup.

Here are some of their bragging points:

  • Longer tree straps than our competitors
  • Tree straps include large hand loop for easier grip and tightening
  • Bigger Surface Area with Aggressive Tread Design for your Boots
  • No Assembly or Moving Parts that can Fail or Break
  • Solid One-Piece Design
  • Dual Strap Post Design for added Stability
  • Heavy Duty Polyester Straps
  • Shoulder Strap Included

And the specs:

  • Weight: 2.35 lbs per stick and 9.4 lbs per set of 4 without straps
  • 300 lb load capacity
  • Ladder Stick Length: 21
  • Distance Between Steps: 17.25″
  • Single Stick: $39.00 or Stack of 4: $149.00

(These prices are lower than last year, when they were $48.99 and $179.99.)
