Outdoor Retailer Snow Show 2023 – What’s New with Baffin Boots

How can you tell a Canadian from an American? The Canadian will be the one wearing a funny hat, Baffin boots, and shouting “Eh!” If from Ontario, they’ll probably apologize for even the slightest inconvenience occurred. I met some cool Canadians from the Baffin Boots brand at the Outdoor Retailer Snow Show recently and did a short video about their current/upcoming products!

OMG! Like, more Shoe Articles! Totally!

The Outdoor Retailer Show is like the Comic-Con of the outdoor industry. It’s a huge event where top brands in the outdoor industry come together to showcase their latest products and innovations. It’s a great place to network and learn about the latest trends in the industry. Despite the controversies of moving from Colorado to Utah, there were still many companies worth taking a look at!

Baffin Boots

I’m excited about Baffin Footwear because they offer a wide range of footwear for all types of outdoor activities. Their products are specifically designed to keep your feet warm and dry in the harshest of conditions, and they use the latest technology to ensure maximum comfort and performance.

Company Info: Baffin Footwear

Baffin Footwear was founded in 1997 by Paul Hubner, inspired by his father’s trips to the Canadian Arctic. The company took the Inuit ideology of layered footwear and developed an 8 layer technology that could withstand extreme cold weather conditions. Since then, Baffin has expanded to include all types of leading-edge outdoor and industrial footwear and apparel. Headquartered in Stony Creek, Ontario, Canada, Baffin is proud to be Canadian and to embrace the challenges of outdoor and work adventures.

On top of their adventure lines, Baffin also has a line of more industrial boots that OSHA would enjoy looking at. Whether you’re a registered forklift operator, or just work outdoors on your feet all day in the cold, their Industrial line of footwear might be worth looking at.

Baffin has also gone from being a polar/arctic footwear brand, to one that also has some cold weather lifestyle type shoes to their line. While these shoes didn’t particularly interest me, their quality was up there, and they looked fashionable. I don’t think a spouse would have a problem wearing these around the house or to get a coffee?

Opinions

While I don’t have a fondness of winter as much as your typical Canuck, nor do I play in the snow as much as I used to, Baffin’s lightweight shoes are LIGHT. For example, they have an eponymous Women’s boots with the LIGHT name that I’m likely going to buy a pair next year… gendered shoe roles be damned.

At 11 ounces per shoe, and rated from -22*F to 50*F, there’s something about them I like. Would love to pack them into a bag and use them in rougher areas, having a pair of trail shoes when back on terrain with less snow.

There’s also the Borealis that looks like your typical hiking boot, except it makes me giggle because of all of the Half Life 2 references I can make. Didn’t get to touch this one in person, but thought it was cool:

Conclusion

Reviews on Baffin Boots tend to range 4 stars and up, although there are a few reports of funny things amongst the few hundred reviews I’ve read on Amazon, Zappos, and their own site. Baffin did offer me a pair of boots to review, but since I don’t live in an extremely wintery condition, I have mailed them off to a member of our Alloutdoor Discord that lives in Maine and he’ll be testing them in extreme cold weather while snowmobiling and well… living in Maine.

I plan on getting a pair of their Cush booties for camping, and will keep my eye out on future releases of theirs and you should do the same as the pride they put into their manufacturing shows!
