“The Old Trapper legend began with our original Old Fashioned Beef Jerky. We season lean cuts of real steak, add brown sugar for just the right hint of sweetness, and smoke them to perfection using real wood in our smokehouses. The result is tender, never tough jerky that will be the best you’ve ever tasted. Available in hot and spicy, peppered, teriyaki, old fashioned and zero sugar.”

Overall, we gave this flavor a positive review before and we still do. I believe if you are on the run and need a hearty jerky snack, this is a staple; what all other jerky is measured against. It has solid flavor, good nutrition for beef jerky, and its filling. Whether you are sitting in a treestand waiting for a gnarly whitetail deer to walk by or you are walking your dog, this is a good beef jerky snack.

Old Trapper Beef Jerky – Teriyaki

When you are at a dusty gas station in the middle of nowhere there often is not a lot of hope for a good snack to curb your appetite. Sometimes a little Old Trapper Teriyaki Beef Jerky might be your only salvation and it definitely hits the spot. With its tangy taste of salty/sweet while still being tender, I have ate my way through countless bags of this beef jerky over the years and it has been consistent in its flavor for decades. If your curiosity is piqued, all of the nutritional and serving data is listed below as presented by Old Trapper Beef Jerky:

  • Beef
  • Soy Sauce [Water, Soy Sauce Powder (Wheat, Soybeans, Salt, Maltodextrin) Sodium Benzoate]
  • Brown Sugar
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Hydrolyzed Corn Protein
  • Salt
  • Flavorings
  • Sodium Nitrite

To create the unique salty-sweet flavor in our Teriyaki beef jerky, we marinate lean beef strips in soy sauce and apple cider vinegar, season the cuts with our own mix of spices, then smoke them with real wood until they’re tender, juicy, and delicious. You deserve the best, eat Old Trapper.

I took both the Teriyaki and Old Fashioned flavors of Old Trapper Beef Jerky with me hunting this spring, and it was clutch. I was waking up at 4am most days, barely awake to get dressed, and journey out to my designated hunting spot. With all that being said, I never cooked a proper breakfast for myself; rather, I relied on a forest floor snack while waiting for a gobbler to come in. This meant gas station coffee and some good ol’ Old Trapper to the rescue.

The Old Trapper Beef Jerky curbed my satiety enough that I could stay out hunting for 6 hours in the morning on a light snack yet it didn’t have me running for the bathroom. It was a nice balance of a healthy, tasty snack that could get me through my morning hunts. So much so, that I eventually bagged my Minnesota spring turkey!

Final Thoughts: Old Trapper Beef Jerky – Old Fashioned & Teriyaki

So, what are my final thoughts on Old Trapper Beef Jerky in two of their staple flavors of Old Fashioned and Teriyaki?… My thoughts haven’t changed much since our last review. Old Trapper makes some quality jerky, it tastes good, and it is satisfyingly filling. The only negative I could speak to is I would like to see a bit less salt and sodium nitrate in the product. I do realize that is going to reduce the shelf stability of it, but less salt is always better in my book.

In closing, I want to say thank you to Old Trapper for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their Old Trapper Beef Jerky in Old Fashioned and Teriyaki flavors. That is greatly appreciated. Also, we would like to know what all of you guys and gals think? Do you believe that the Old Trapper Beef Jerky in Old Fashioned and Teriyaki flavors is something worth spending your money? Would you take it hunting with you, hiking, camping, or would you use it as a daily snack? As always, let us know all of your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.
